Art Therapy
December 15th, 2009
At some point in life, you may find yourself overwhelmed by the intensity of your emotions, which are difficult to face either by themselves or with others. Art therapy offers an opportunity to explore these intense or painful thoughts and feelings in a supportive environment.
Art Therapy is an established mental health profession based on the principle that the creative process of making art is potentially healing and life-enhancing. Its about playing with colors and images. It's not about being artistic. Art Therapy is the journey taken to find the life force with us.
Art Therapists are professionally trained in art and therapy. Educational, professional, and ethical standards for Art Therapists are regulated by the American Art Therapy Association, Inc. (AATA). This form of therapy is steadily gaining in popularity and can help people cope with trauma, stress, illness and aid the self in personal development.
Art therapists work with people of all ages, either in groups or individually.
